The retreat
What this week is about
Uvita is the Costa Rica before the crowds: a whale tail shaped sandbar, jungle that hums after dark, and waterfalls you earn with a hike. Our lodge sits on a ridge with the ocean on one side and rainforest on the other.
The week mixes movement with adventure. Expect strong morning practices, surf lessons on a beginner friendly beach, a guided hike to a waterfall pool, and evening yin while toucans argue in the trees.
Everything is optional, everything is included. If you want to trade the surf lesson for a hammock and a fresh coconut, the hammock will not judge you.
Highlights
- Guided waterfall hike with a swim in the pool below
- Two surf lessons on Playa Hermosa
- Night jungle walk with a naturalist guide
- Boat tour of the whale tail marine park in season
- Farm to table Costa Rican cooking, gallo pinto included
Where you stay
An open air lodge on the jungle ridge with screen walled rooms, an outdoor yoga deck and a pool that blends into the canopy.

Day by day
A shape for the week, room to breathe inside it
Twice daily practice anchors every day. Everything else moves with the weather, the group and the moment. Consider this the honest sketch, not a contract.
Day 1
Arrival and welcome
Pickup from San Jose or a short hop to Palmar Sur, then the drive south along the coast. Welcome dinner as the jungle switches on for the night.
Day 2
Into the rhythm
Morning practice on the deck, beach walk after brunch, and evening yin with the frogs.
Day 3
First surf
Morning lesson on a soft, sandy break. Afternoon free. Evening stretch that your arms will thank you for.
Day 4
Waterfall day
A guided hike into the hills, a swim in a pool under the falls, and lunch at a roadside soda with the best ceviche around.
Day 5
Free day
Snorkeling, a massage, a nap, a book, a hammock. Options are optional.
Day 6
Second surf and night walk
Another go at the waves, then after dark, a naturalist leads us into the jungle to meet its night shift.
Day 7
Marine park boat
In season we boat out to the whale tail bay looking for humpbacks and dolphins. Off season, a longer jungle trek instead.
Day 8
Closing practice
A long morning flow, a Costa Rican cooking session, and a farewell dinner under the stars.
Day 9
Departure
One last tropical breakfast and transfers north.
