The retreat
What this week is about
Ubud does something to people. The air smells like clove and frangipani, the rice terraces glow green after the rain, and nobody is in a hurry to be anywhere. We base the whole week at a family run retreat center above the Petanu River, with an open shala where the only ceiling is the palm canopy.
Mornings start with vinyasa while the mist lifts off the valley. Evenings are for slow yin and yoga nidra as the frogs take over the soundtrack. In between there is a water purification ceremony at Tirta Empul, a long walk through the Tegallalang terraces, and enough free time to nap in a hammock without explaining yourself to anyone.
Our cooks prepare Balinese dishes with vegetables from the garden out back. You will learn to make proper sambal, and you will dream about it later, we promise.
Highlights
- Open air bamboo shala above the river valley
- Water purification ceremony at Tirta Empul temple
- Guided sunrise walk through the rice terraces
- Two traditional Balinese massages included
- Cooking class in the retreat garden
Where you stay
A family run retreat center with private bungalows, an infinity pool facing the jungle, and open air bathrooms under the palms.

Day by day
A shape for the week, room to breathe inside it
Twice daily practice anchors every day. Everything else moves with the weather, the group and the moment. Consider this the honest sketch, not a contract.
Day 1
Arrival and welcome dinner
We collect you from Denpasar airport at set times, settle you into your bungalow, and open the week with a gentle evening practice and a long table dinner.
Day 2
First full practice day
Morning vinyasa, brunch, free afternoon by the pool, and a yin session at dusk when the jungle comes alive.
Day 3
Temple and water ceremony
We drive to Tirta Empul for the purification ceremony with a local guide, then lunch in town and an evening restorative class.
Day 4
Rice terrace sunrise
An early walk through Tegallalang before the tour buses arrive, brunch back home, massage appointments, and an afternoon workshop on breath.
Day 5
Free day
Rent a scooter, book a rafting trip, visit the monkey forest, or do gloriously nothing. Your call entirely.
Day 6
Cooking and kirtan
Morning flow, then a Balinese cooking class in the garden. After dinner we share songs around candles with our host family.
Day 7
Closing circle
A long final practice in the shala, a farewell dinner, and the kind of sleep you forget is possible.
Day 8
Departure
Breakfast, one last swim, and transfers back to the airport whenever your flight leaves.
